Clara Homan Mason (1889-1993) and they lived in Auckland. Grandpa lived at Arapito, Karamea, in the South Island of New Zealand. He was aged 12 when his father Daniel Scarlett and family arrived in 1874, being one of the original settlors. | ||

5 | John Clist (b. 1835) and his family by Roger Clist My great-great-grandfather John Clist was born in 1835 in Hemyock, Devon. As Civil Registration of births started on 1 July 1837, we do not know his birth date. However, I have obtained his marriage certificate, which confirms he was aged 26 when he married on 3 Apr 1861. I have subsequently found from parish records that he was christened on 25 Jan 1835. But this also revealed a big surprise! | ||

8 | Sergeant Sidney Clist by Roger Clist My grandfather Sidney George Clist was a policeman all his working life in New Zealand. He joined the Police Force shortly after immigrating in December 1910 and served in several cities and towns in the North Island. We do not have many details within family memorabilia, but I have found several references in public archives, which I document here. |
