FTP Server Instructions

This page describes how to upload and download images and other files to The Clist Connections website using File Transfer Protocol (FTP). The screen shots displayed here are generated by Internet Explorer 7.0 on a Windows Vista PC. Use of the Internet Explorer is recommended, as other web browsers may not have the required functionality.

Step 1: Click on the ftp link to at the top of this page just above the Home, Search, etc. icons. It should open in a new window.

Step 2: You will be asked for a user name and password. The user name is [email protected]. The password should have been emailed to you already (if not, please contact us by email). When logged in, you will see a screen something like the image below.

Step 3: The message at the top of the above screenshot is somewhat dated. To view this FTP site in Windows Explorer, click View, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer from the drop-down menu. The Windows Explorer will then launch, and you will be asked to enter the user name and password once again. Use the same user name and password as before. You will then see a screen similar to the image below.

Step 4: You can now navigate through the folders to select and download files of interest. To upload files, double-click on incoming to drop down into the incoming folder in The Clist Connections website. Any files that you now drag into this window will be "dropped" into the incoming folder using FTP (takes file transfer time) ready for collection.

Step 5: The best way of transferring many files is to open a separate Windows Explorer (or My Computer) which is looking at the source folder containing all the files you wish to put in The Clist Connections website. Then you just drag files from this source folder and drop them in the incoming folder.

Step 6: Contact us by email if you have problems. And email again when there are files awaiting collection in the incoming folder!
